Raquel Arne is one of the top student-athletes at J.P. Taravella High School.
Arne, 17, is not only the leading female runner on the Trojans cross-country team but also a dedicated student with a remarkable 4.7-grade point average. As a senior living in Coral Springs, she is ranked 31 out of more than 600 students in her class.
Arne is not just a top student-athlete; she’s also a leader in her community, a member of the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society, and Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders.
“As a member of Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders, I have tutored first- and second-year students who need help in math. My favorite academic subject is math,” she said.
Arne will compete on the track and field team during the spring and focus on the long jump and 400-meter run.
She plans to attend college and is interested in the University of South Florida. She is considering a career in law or radiology.

Her coach, Dawn Spann, is impressed with her. “She is a hard worker and puts in the effort to be a good runner. She is very coachable and is doing well in school.”
Arne said, “I want to have a successful career, and I am looking forward to going to college.”
