Jeronimo Fucile Roberts {BSO}
Police say a man high on mushrooms crashed his car before robbing a Sunrise 7-Eleven multiple times and injuring a cashier.
According to a Sunrise Police Department arrest report, Jeronimo Fucile Roberts, 20, of Weston, was taken into custody around 1:00 a.m. on May 17 near the 7-Eleven at 15988 West State Road 84.
Police said officers were initially dispatched to the area after multiple reports of a single-vehicle crash, as well as separate calls about a chaotic blood robbery and assault inside a 7-Eleven nearby. Callers reported the suspect – later identified as Roberts – appeared to be under the influence and that “there was blood everywhere” inside the store.
Investigators said surveillance video showed the vehicle “doing donuts in reverse” before abruptly stopping near State Road 84 as if it had crashed. Roberts then allegedly entered the 7-Eleven multiple times over about 15 minutes.
According to witnesses, Roberts first grabbed a 12-pack of Coors Light, then returned and attempted to steal cigarettes and additional beer. The report says he also threw beer cans and smashed glass Michelob Ultra bottles throughout the parking lot and store entrance as shocked customers looked on.
Police said during one encounter behind the counter, Roberts assaulted a cashier while attempting to grab cigarettes, causing her to fall backward into the register counter, injuring and bloodying her hand. Onlookers reportedly said Roberts was also bleeding everywhere throughout the store.
During a search of his vehicle, officers reportedly found packaging labeled “Trippi” for “Magic Mushrooms Gummies” and later discovered two capsules containing a brown substance that field-tested positive for psilocybin.
Roberts was transported to the Cleveland Clinic for treatment of cuts and a nosebleed before being transported to Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
