Customer complaints sparked inspections that temporarily shut down Steak ‘n Shake and Luv’n Oven Ale House in Sunrise after inspectors found rodent droppings, roaches, and mold-like buildup.
According to inspection reports from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, both Steak ‘n Shake and Luv’n Oven Ale House failed inspections initiated in response to complaints.
Inspectors ordered Steak ‘n Shake, located at 12541 West Sunrise Boulevard, to close on May 18 after finding evidence of rodent activity inside the restaurant. The inspection report noted that inspectors found rodent droppings near a CO2 tank in a dry storage area.
The restaurant was ordered to cease operations until the violations were corrected and approved by inspectors.
On May 19, inspectors ordered Luv’n Oven Ale House, located at 10033 Sunset Strip, to shut down after a complaint inspection uncovered multiple sanitation concerns. The inspection report listed six violations, including live and dead roaches in the kitchen area.
In addition to the pest-related violations, inspectors documented an accumulation of a black mold-like substance inside the restaurant’s ice machine.
Both restaurants were required to address the violations before being allowed to reopen.
