A Sunrise man faces seven charges, including sexual battery, kidnapping, strangulation, and robbery, after police said he assaulted a woman.

According to a Sunrise Police Department arrest report, police arrested Maurice Clarke, 46, on September 30.

Records show the victim told police that when she tried to leave the residence through the front door, Clarke punched her and dragged her into another room. Investigators said he then blocked her nose and mouth with his hand, preventing her from breathing.

The warrant also alleges Clarke stuffed a hair bonnet into the woman’s mouth before again covering her nose and mouth.

Police said Clarke took the woman’s phone and purse after allegedly striking, digitally penetrating her vagina and anus, and kissing the woman against her will.

On September 30, detectives located Clarke at 3300 North University Drive. Officers then transported him to the Broward County Main Jail

Court records show bond on the kidnapping charge was set at $100,000, with additional bonds totaling $18,500 on the remaining charges.
