Piper High School held its Spring Signing Day ceremony, recognizing two student-athletes who officially committed to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.
Allyson Knowles of the girls soccer team signed with Florida Memorial University. After appearing in just one game as a freshman, Knowles developed into one of the school’s top offensive threats. She finished her high school career with 53 goals, including 34 during her senior season in only 13 games. She also recorded three assists this season and five assists overall during her career. Knowles helped lead the team to a combined 23 victories over the past two seasons and earned selection to the BCAA All-Star Team.
Mekhi McLemore, a two-sport athlete at Piper, signed to play football at Independence Community College. The Bengals posted seven wins this season, highlighted by a playoff victory over Charles W. Flanagan High School. McLemore played both defensive end and tight end, contributing a sack during the postseason while providing versatility on both sides of the ball.
