Coconut Creek property owners will see a higher millage rate this year.
On the final reading, the commission agreed to raise the millage rate from 6.4463 last year to 6.8988.
According to City Manager Sheila Rose, the increase will pay for important projects, including the new fire station 113, extensive renovations, and an expansion of the police headquarters building and infrastructure for the new MainStreet at Coconut Creek development.
Also, many of the city’s personnel will receive a four percent pay increase.
According to Rose, Coconut Creek last had a tax increase in 2018, when the city funded a separation from the Margate Fire Department and a transition to Coral Springs dispatch.
The commission approved the city’s total budget of $222 million and the general fund of $131,719,000.
The budget was approved with little discussion.
