Tamarac residents have an opportunity for some more holiday fun.
Commissioner Elvin Villalobos is leading the initiative to create ‘Claus Night Out’ on Saturday, December 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac District parking lot at 7515 NW 88th Avenue.
The Claus Night Out came from the idea of residents Thomas and Phyllis Keeling, who enjoy participating in community events dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus.

From there, he planned an event to get residents out during the holidays and keep the festivities of Christmas going.
According to Villalobos, the event is paid for with $1,100 from the Commissioners Initiative Fund and will include five volunteers.
Some of the fun includes arts and crafts and goodie bags for the children, food trucks, Christmas music, and a photo opportunity with Santa. One Blood will also be accepting donations.
Residents are asked to bring non-perishable food items and hygiene products to benefit Tamarac residents in need. The Tamarac Parks and Recreation social services will distribute those items.
Said Villalobos, “This will be a chance for neighbors to have some fun together.”
