A woman was arrested after Sunrise police conducted an undercover sting at Ambrosia Spa during an investigation into illicit massage businesses potentially linked to prostitution and human trafficking in South Florida.
According to a Sunrise Police Department arrest report, detectives from the Strategic Investigations Section conducted an undercover operation on March 3 at Ambrosia Spa, located at 3854 North University Drive, as part of an investigation into potential prostitution and human trafficking activity at the establishment.
During the investigation, an undercover detective entered the spa and made contact with an employee later identified as Yosleidys Hernandez Trujillo. 47, of Tamarac. The detective requested a massage, and Hernandez reportedly stated that a full-body massage would cost $180. The undercover officer then provided funds before being led into a massage room, where the massage lasted approximately one hour, according to the report.
After the undercover officer left the business, additional detectives and a Florida Department of Health investigator entered the establishment. Hernandez was detained for questioning, and another employee was also located inside the spa.
Investigators determined the business was operating without a valid massage establishment license and that no licensed massage therapist was working at the location. Authorities said the spa appeared to be operating under the façade of a cosmetology salon offering services such as facials and body treatments.
Inside the spa, detectives reported observing multiple massage tables along with items, including condoms and lubricant.
During questioning, Hernandez initially denied providing massages but later admitted she performed them. Investigators also asked Hernandez whether she was a victim of human trafficking, which she denied.
Hernandez was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
