Ten Ten Seafood & Grill was ordered to close following a health inspection by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation initiated by a complaint.
According to the December 27 inspection report, the review revealed numerous health code violations, which led to a stop-sale order.
The report notes that the failed inspection marks the third time in recent years that Ten Ten Seafood & Grill has been shut down due to food safety concerns. Previous closures were ordered on October 11, 2023, and October 1, 2024.
Health officials documented 15 violations during the inspection, ranging from pest activity to improper food handling practices.
One of the findings was evidence of roach activity in the kitchen area. Inspectors noted in the inspection report that they observed roaches on a shelf above a prep sink near the walk-in cooler. Additionally, dead roaches were found on the floor beside a chest freezer near the cook line.
Food safety violations were also noted, including raw meat stored next to unwashed vegetables in the walk-in cooler, which, the inspector noted, creates a risk of cross-contamination.
Surfaces for food preparation were also unsanitary, including a glove used to handle cooked BBQ pork coated with old food. Additionally, improper storage and temperature control for food items were included in the report.
Most concerning, inspectors found that Ten Ten Seafood & Grill was operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license, which they note alone was sufficient grounds for the establishment to shut down until compliance.
To reopen, Ten Ten Seafood & Grill must address each violation cited in the inspection and pass a follow-up review by the Florida Division of Hotels and Restaurants. They must also regain their operating license.
