The Piper High School boys basketball team played in two games during the Sunshine State Explosion.
The Bengals beat Braddock High School 58-47 behind a dominant fourth quarter. After the game was tied at 39, the Bengals outscored their opponents 19-8 to record their seventh win.
However, Piper went on to lose their next game against Monsignor Pace High School 60-59. The Bengals led by four at the end of the first quarter but fell to 7-6 on the season.
The Bengals previously had wins over Monarch, Hallandale, Cooper City, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, and Hollywood Hills High School while losing to Deerfield Beach, J.P. Taravella, West Broward, Plantation, and Coral Springs High School.
Piper will return to action on Thursday, January 9, against Miramar High School. The Patriots are 9-4 this year and have won their last five games.
