A Coral Springs man faces charges of sexual battery and molestation of a minor after a victim presented her journal as evidence of his ongoing abuse to law enforcement.
On May 15, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence near the 8800 block of Northwest 18th Street.
When CSPD officers arrived, the report shows they were met by a woman who claimed a man, later identified as Alan Eugene Picardi, 57, of Coral Springs, had been violently yelling at the underaged victim.
Records show that during their interview with the woman, CSPD officers were informed that Picardi had been sexually assaulting the victim. With this information, the woman and the victim were separated from Picardi and transported to the Coral Springs police station for questioning.
During the interviews, reports show the victim told CSPD officers that dating back to December of 2022, Picardi had been sexually assaulting her while she slept.
According to records, the victim told officers during the first encounter; she awoke to Picardi massaging her breasts. She told officers that when she asked Picardi what he was doing, he got off her and ran out of the room.
The following day Picardi seemed regretful; and told her at breakfast that ‘he loved her.’ according to the report.
The victim believed Picardi was drunk during the assault because she could smell alcohol, and he slurred his speech. It was revealed during interviews that Picardi has an ongoing alcohol problem and is not supposed to drink.
The victim reported that she outlined in detail the assaults in her journal. Eventually, using those written accounts to reveal the molestation to an adult, who, upon reading it, said, ‘Oh my god, he’s so sick! He’s so sick!’
Confronted by this, Picardi allegedly wept, called himself a ‘sick bastard,’ and promised to seek therapy for his actions, which he blamed on alcoholism, and promised the assaults would never happen again.
Following his admissions, the victim told officers that as a precaution, she slept with her door locked and a chair pushed under the doorknob to ensure Picardi never entered again.
Records show the victim told officers that in March of 2023, on Picardi’s birthday, a second incident of molestation occurred in which the victim woke up to him molesting her. The victim told CSPD Picardi again ran out of the room, leaving his vape device and a carrot behind.
The victim told officers she immediately confronted Picardi with the items in front of an adult, but that he refused to admit what he had done, only replying, ‘Oh, that’s where my vape was.’
According to the arrest report, on May 17, Picardi and the victim got into a heated argument that led to the police being called. During the argument, the victim reported to CSPD that Picardi said of the assaults, ‘I know you enjoyed it… like you keep lying.’
After interviews with the victim and related witnesses, Picardi was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
