{Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida}
Get hands-on training to become a volunteer with the Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida.
The orientation is open to all individuals interested in providing therapeutic riding and equine activities to children and adults with special needs.
While no prior horse experience is required, Equine Assisted Therapies provides all necessary training to ensure volunteers are well-prepared to work with the horses and navigate the campus safely, according to the organization.
The orientation includes a comprehensive barn tour, an introduction to tying safety knots, and lessons on halter usage. This hands-on training will equip volunteers with the skills to assist in therapeutic riding sessions and other equine-related activities.
Founded in 1982 by Soroptimist International of Boca Raton and the Kiwanis Club of Boca Raton, EATSF has grown into a beacon of hope and support for individuals seeking physical, mental, and emotional improvement through equine-assisted activities. The organization offers four distinct programs, with the Therapeutic Riding Program being the largest and most volunteer-intensive.
The volunteer orientation takes place on Saturday, July 13, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek.
Teens can earn service hours, however, the minimum age is 14 to apply.
Prospective volunteers can sign up by visiting the EATSF website, clicking on the volunteer tab, and downloading and completing the volunteer application under the “get started” section.
Completed applications should be emailed to volunteer@equineatsf.org to secure a spot.
