A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested late Friday night and faces DUI charges after allegedly causing a minor collision at a stoplight in Tamarac.
According to the arrest report, the incident occurred a driver claimed to the Broward Sheriff’s Office that their colleague, Deputy Kimberly Ann Walker, 55, abruptly reversed her vehicle into his at the intersection of University Drive and Northwest 58th Street, causing a collision that resulted in an estimated $800 worth of damage to both cars.
The report does not indicate if Walker was on-duty, driving a marked BSO cruiser, or operating a personal vehicle during the collision.Â
Upon speaking with responding BSO deputies, Walker denied striking the vehicle but, in the process, exhibited telltale signs of impairment, including the need to rest on her vehicle for support and an evident odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from her breath.
BSO deputies conducted a roadside impairment assessment wherein Walker underwent a series of field sobriety tests, which she failed, according to the arrest report.Â
Walker was subsequently given a breathalyzer test that indicated her blood-alcohol content (BAC) to be at least 0.174%, more than double the legal limit.Â
Walker was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
In response to Walker’s arrest, a Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told Local10 that Walker has been placed on a “restricted administrative assignment.”Â
