A Sunrise restaurant was shut down after a health inspection uncovered numerous violations, including evidence of roach activity.
Bistro Creole – located at 6130 West Oakland Park Boulevard – was ordered to shut down on March 5 after inspectors from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services uncovered nine health violations, including roach activity, improper food handling, and temperature control issues.Â
The forced closure marks the second time Bistro Creole has been forced to close in recent months. It was also ordered to shut down on October 23 due to plumbing issues.
During the inspection, the report indicates that officials observed live roaches in the kitchen and near a chest freezer in a passageway next to the kitchen. Additionally, dead roaches were found near the dry storage area.
Inspectors also noted unsanitary kitchen conditions, including a buildup of food debris inside the microwave, a scoop handle improperly stored in a container of peas under a preparation table, and an employee failing to wash hands after sweeping the kitchen before cutting vegetables.
The report also cited temperature control issues, including cooked pork exceeding the cold-holding safety requirement. Turkey and fried plantains were found to be hot-held at 114 degrees Fahrenheit, below the required 135 degrees Fahrenheit for food safety.
A follow-up inspection will determine whether the restaurant meets the necessary health and safety standards before reopening.Â
