North Broward Prep has been successful in supporting its students’ athletic pursuits in college year after year. This year’s outcome was no exception, as 13 student-athletes have officially signed to play in college.
The baseball team, the reigning two times State Champions, had four players officially signed. Mauricio Bejarano is headed to play at Eastern Kentucky and has been a star this year. He is currently hitting .425 with 15 RBIs.
Nathanael Coupet is the teams leading hitter at .447 and has eight home runs this year. He will be playing at Georgia Tech while Jensen Seculer is signed to play with Marshall. The senior is 3-0 on the mound with an era of 1.93, while Dylan Radtke. He is also 3-0 this year and has an era of 2.29.
The NBP football team had five players sign in Jaden Blackburn, Graham Mathieu, Marcus Dixon, Alex Wigginton, and Zadher Mesidort Blackburn will be playing at Stetson University. After winning two State Championships with Cardinal Gibbons, he played don year with NBP helping the Eagles win five games. Matthieu shined on the offensive line and is headed to the University of Rochester. He was a blocker for Dixon, who was a running back and defensive end. He will be attending Heidelberg University.
Wigginton is set to attend Tulane University after playing quarterback and on defense, with Zander Mesidort attending Methodist University.
Leah Finkelman of the girl’s soccer team will play at the University of Pennsylvania. She set the school record for goals and points in a season and career. Riley Weiss, who also set the school record for most points in a game and a season, will play college basketball at Columbia University.
Aubrey Sheppard will continue her beach volleyball career at California State Bakersfield University. Michael McGrath, a District and Regional Champion in the javelin this year, signed with Kentucky Christian University.
After making State and setting a school record for the lowest nine-hole score in golf, Sean Richards will attend Iona University, while Michelle Julien will attend Duke for fencing.
