Viola Watson Wins Endorsement of BSO Deputies Union in Tamarac Commission Race

Tamarac city commission candidate Viola Watson has won the endorsement of the Broward Deputy Sheriffs Association International Union of Police Associations Local 6020, her campaign said.

The union represents BSO’s sworn deputies and sergeants, who enforce the law in numerous Broward municipalities, including Tamarac.

Watson, a member of Tamarac’s Planning Board and Affordable Housing Advisory Board, is campaigning to unseat District 1 Commissioner Marlon Bolton, who is running for a third term. He was originally elected in 2016 and reelected in 2020. Business owner Horatio Bryan is also running for the commission seat.

Watson has said her priorities for the city include economic revitalization, neighborhood beautification, and ensuring residents have access to affordable housing.

“This recognition is incredibly meaningful to me, and I am deeply thankful to the entire Local 6020 team for their trust and support,” Watson said in a written statement this week. “The men and women of the Broward Deputy Sheriffs Association are some of the most dedicated and committed law enforcement professionals and support personnel. Their unwavering devotion to keeping our community safe is inspiring. Having their endorsement is an honor I cherish.”

The election will be held on Nov. 5.
