Tragedy struck a Tamarac neighborhood on Saturday when a child drowned after falling into a canal.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office, a call regarding a missing endangered child in the 100 block of Ann Lee Lane came in shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found the child in a nearby canal.
Deputies pulled the boy out of the water and immediately began lifesaving measures. BSO’s Aviation Unit transported the child to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, however, at this time, they do know the child had autism.
