4 Track and Field Teams in Coral Springs Start Season With Win

Track and field season is officially underway for four high school teams in Coral Springs this week.

The Coral Springs High School boys team finished first in their meet against Northeast, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs Charter, and Deerfield Beach High School.

Jeffrey Belizaire, Kensey Frederic, Malaki Christian, Leighton Peart, Tariq Murray, and Darnell Charite won their events. Ravi Persaud, Carl Pereira, Jashoua Clerge, and Haozhen Yuan came in second

The girls placed third, one point back of second. They had seven different girls win events, including Niecy Brown, Briana Williams, Angelica Macarulay, Shaquilea Alvarnaga, and Joefine Majdoch; also, Lea Ramnarace finished second in the 3200 meters, while Nia Mackey, Sydney Cooper, Bethune Darang and Nia Mackey ended up in second in the 4 x 400 relay.

The Coral Springs Charter girls track and field team finished first, while the boys came in fourth. The girls were led by Alexandra Bruno, coming in first place in the shot put and discus. Jessica Camacho won the triple jump, while Ashlee Diaz, Rylie Gentile, Mackenzie Masiscalco, and Abigail Foster won the 4 x 800 relay.

Sophia Llano, Stephanie Contreras, Isabella Patino, and Aliyah Rhodes came in second in the 4 x 800 relay, with Lilly Richardson, Kendall Parrott, Ana Thornberry, and Arianna Gibbs all placing in the top three individually.

Michael Snow and Preston Griffin were the two boys to win events. Snow finished second in the 400 meters, with Kevaun Hinckson, Justin Laroche, Jurgen Meza, and Michael Chin placing second in the 4 x 100 relay. Other notable performances came from Jan-Paul Londono, Chris Gayle, and Eli Groothius.

The Coral Glades girls came in first place in their meet against J.P. Taravella, Boyd H. Anderson, and Piper. Zion Tomlin ran in multiple events, came in first in the 400 meters and triple jump, and placed in two races. Lily Bido and Saniya Swain also won their events, while Gina Bido, Lily Bido, Aryanna Marin, and Sophia Borno won the 4 x 800 relay.

The boys team finished in third place, with Tyler Monroe and Elijah Vessells winning the 200 and 800 meters, respectively. Malachi Moore won the long jump, while Tyler Monroe was first in the triple jump. The Jaguars’ best relay race was their 4 x 100 team, which came in second, featuring Jaxson Horner, Monroe, Curtis Shelton, and Malachi Noble.

The J.P. Taravella boys cross country team also took first place, with Charles Green, Carson Dunham, Sebastian Merraro, Jasiah Clapp, and the 4 x 800 Relay team of Akeem Beckford, Jaylen Amoa, Sebastian Merraro, and Tyquez Johnson winning their events. Nikai McNee came in second in two events, while Traejon Roberts, Christopher Reid Jr, Johnson, and Maxwell Delien also came in second to lead JPT.

The girls came in second, highlighted by Aleah Marriot, Jade Brown, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Ajah Arscottt, winning the 4 x 100. Marriott and Spann-Pierre won individual events, while five Trojans placed second.
