Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through January 8, 2024.

Embezzlement

A victim of Embezzlement on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $18,000. The victim advised she willingly gave $18,000 in cash to an unknown woman after she was told over the phone she needed bail money for her son. Details on this type of scam here.

A victim of Embezzlement on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,184. The embezzlement occurred over the phone.

Theft

A victim of Theft – All Other on 01/05/2024. The total estimated loss was $4,800. The victim wants to report that an unknown subject stole his check from the mailbox and cashed it.

A victim of Theft -Motor Vehicle Parts on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,200. The victim advised all four tires of his vehicle had been stolen while he was away on vacation.

Orthopedic Specialists was a victim of Theft – All Other on 01/04/2024. The total estimated loss was $800. A Doctor’s office received a check stolen from their mailbox and cashed by an unknown suspect.

Walgreens was a victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting on 01/04/2024. The total estimated loss was $619. Three unknown female subjects entered the store, removed cosmetic items from the shelves, and fled without paying.

Marshalls was a victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $100—a subject shoplifted at Marshall’s by removing two pairs of shoes.

A victim of Auto Theft on 01/03/2024. The Dodge dealership reported a client`s car stolen from their parking lot.

Burglary

American Plumbing was a victim of Burglary Conveyance on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $4,800.

Consolidated Community Management Inc. was a victim of Burglary Conveyance on 01/03/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,000. Three vehicles were broken into, and tools were stolen.
