“I Will Go to Your Sunrise Location and Kill Every Single Employee,”: Man Arrested After Threatening to Kill Fitness Staff

A Sunrise man was arrested after police say he sent explicit written threats to kill every Athletica Health & Fitness employee following a dispute over an unpaid bill.

According to Sunrise Police arrest records, Justin Allen Marshall, 35, was taken into custody on January 5 after investigators linked him to threatening emails sent to Athletica Health & Fitness, located at 3445 Hiatus Road.

Police say the threats were sent on December 27 in response to automated collection emails regarding an outstanding balance. In one message, Marshall allegedly wrote, “I want to make a clear message me again I won’t talk to your sunrise location and brutally kill every employee you have working there.” Moments later, a second email followed, stating, “What I’m trying to say is, if you message me again, I will go to your sunrise location and kill every single employee there.”

The incident was reported to police through a SaferWatch tip received on January 5. Detectives traced the emails and associated phone number to Marshall through law enforcement databases and records obtained from Google, according to the probable cause affidavit

Investigators interviewed employees and management at Athletica Health & Fitness, who told police Marshall had not been at the gym since June 2025 and that there had been no prior incidents involving him. The business requested that charges be pursued out of concern for their employees’ safety.

Marshall was later located at his home and transported to the police department for questioning. During a recorded interview, police said he admitted to sending the threatening emails, explaining that he was angry at the time and had been drinking, though he claimed he had no intention of harming anyone

Marshall was transported and booked into the Broward County Main Jail on a felony charge of written or electronic threats to kill or do bodily injury. He was later released after posting a $3,000 bond.
