Shoppers Alert Police After Man Seen Masturbating Inside Sawgrass Mills Mall Restroom

Shoppers at Sawgrass Mills Mall alerted police after a man was seen masturbating inside a restroom, leading to his arrest, according to authorities.

According to a Sunrise Police Department arrest report, Xavier Devon Perkins, 25, of Lauderhill, was taken into custody on March 27 at Sawgrass Mills Mall by Sunrise Police, who responded to reports of a man exposing himself in one of the food court bathrooms.

Records show that when officers arrived, they found Perkins masturbating in the bathroom, immediately visible to anyone entering the restroom.

A witness told police he initially noticed Perkins standing at a urinal with his pants pulled unusually low, exposing his butt. While washing his hands, the witness said he saw a man still standing at the urinal, clearly masturbating, prompting him to find a police officer.

Investigators determined Perkins’ actions were intentional and “not consistent with normal use” of the restroom and were performed in a sexually explicit manner in view of others.

Perkins was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
