The Piper High School girls volleyball team finished off its season, competing in the District Championship, while the football team played its final two games of the regular season
The girls’ volleyball team lost against Spanish River Community High School 25-10, 25-13, 25-13, finishing the season with a record of 10-12. The Bengals are set to have four players graduate from this year’s team: Brooke Coutain, Avani Medina, Jayana Del Re, and Twaniah Clinton.
Coming off a bye, the football team lost to Monarch High School 41-32 despite an incredible performance from Jahnard Young. He ran the ball 27 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Maksim Steuber also added a score while Thomas James and Luchung Manyou each had sacks. Alex Gammage recovered two fumbles and also blocked a field goal, with Jonah Julien also recovering a fumble before beating South Broward High School 43-14 on Friday night.
Jahnard Young ran the ball 17 times for 117 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nicolas Milfort Jr, Jayson Thomas, and Isaiah Theresias each had rushing touchdowns while Mason Steuber connected with Isaiah Monetisme for a score.
The Bengals also recognized Jahmani Chin-Suer, Jaiden Watson, Alex Gammage, Milfort Jr, Kenneth Pierre, Kourageous Thompson, Isaiah Theresias, Thomas James, Matthew Coleman, Amare Jones, Mehki McLemore, Antonio Campbell, Jayden Daley, Byron Moore, Tafaree Tennant, Esaie Joseph, Luchung Manyou, Rashaun Gardner, Elijah Cox, Giovanni McMillan, Nathaniel Castellanos, Ja’kai Walker, Rodney Brutus, Dameon Ramos, Nathan Edwards, and Dudeley Cadet.
Piper finished the regular season 6-4 with wins against South Plantation, Blanche Ely, Coral Springs High School, Boyd H. Anderson, and Fort Lauderdale. Their losses came against Peachtree Ridge, Coconut Creek, Plantation, and Monarch High School.
The cross country team also ran at Markham Park, with Timothy Hollis finishing 21st at 21:49.7, while Wesley Akins came in 48th at 25:37.4. They will prepare for the District Tournament on November 5.
