Piper High School continued its athletic season with the football and girls’ volleyball teams in action.
The Piper High School football team won its third straight game on Friday night, beating Boyd H. Anderson High School 48-0. Janhard Young had 11 carries and scored four touchdowns while also rushing for 156 yards. Nicolas Milford Jr. also added scores while Maksim Steuber connected with Amre Jones for six.
The Bengals are now 4-3 this year and will play Fort Lauderdale High School in their next game on Friday, October 10, at 7 p.m. The Flying L’s are 1-5 this season, with their only win coming against Boyd H Anderson High School. This is the first time since 2021 that these teams have met, with the last meeting resulting in a 20-14 win for Fort Lauderdale.
The junior varsity team is also red-hot, winning its first four games of the season and outscoring its opponents 126-14 this season following wins against South Plantation and Fort Lauderdale. McArthur and Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
They will play their next regular-season game on Wednesday, October 8, against Plantation High School. The Paladins are 5-1 this year. The Paladins previously had a 40-12 win over Stranahan High School a week ago.
The girls’ volleyball team heads into the final week of the season with a 9-9 record. They had previously won their last match against Stranahan High School, 25-10, 25-20, 25-12, snapping a three-game losing streak.
The Bengals had 29 kills as a team in the match, with Isbella Delgado and Jayana Del Re each recording six. Brooke Coutain and Aishalin Kinyua each added five, with Del Re finishing with a team-high six aces. Auria Paul also played well, recording 17 assists, while the defense shined as well, with Cousin recording two of the team’s four blocks. Marta Monzon had 21 digs, with six other players recording at least 11 in the win.
Next, Piper will play Miramarr High School on Monday, October 6, at 4:30 p.m. The Patriots are 4-7 this year as the Bengals will close the regular season with home matches against Pembroke Pines Charter and Olympic Heights Community High School.
