The Piper High School football team got a much-needed first win on Friday, beating South Plantation High School 31-21.
The Bengals were led by Alex Gammage, who had both a rushing and receiving touchdown. Wade Thompson also scored on the ground along with Janhard Young, who finished the game with 224 all-purpose yards.
Jaytoin Thomas finished with a team-high eight tackles on defense, including two sacks. Khali Jefferson also had two, with Luchung Manyou having one. Dudely Cadet went 1-2 on field goals, while Piper also recovered two fumbles.
The Bengals had previously started the season 0-2 following losses to Peachtree Ridge and Coconut Creek High School. They will face Plantation High School in their next game on Friday, September 12, at 7 p.m.
These two teams met last year, with Piper winning 14-7. The Colonels come into this game with a win against Western, but losses to Miramar and West Broward High School.
