Two Coral Springs restaurants were temporarily ordered closed after state health inspectors uncovered violations that included “roach activity,” state records show.
Flames Ramblewood Diner at 8203 W. Atlantic Blvd. was temporarily ordered closed on June 29 for three violations after inspectors found:
“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. 1 live roach under front counter in dining room. Roach exterminated. Area cleaned and sanitized 4 live roaches inside of unused ice cream freezer on front line in kitchen. Ice cream freezer removed from building. Approximately 5 live roaches inside bin containing packages of dried pasta on dry storage shelf in kitchen. Bin removed from building.”
“Dead roaches on premises. 5 dead roaches under front counter in dining room.”
“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At the cook line prep table, hash brown potatoes (70F – Cold Holding). Item being held at room temperature to be used to order. Item returned to refrigerator to chill and cold hold.”
Another eatery, Donna’s Caribbean Restaurant at 2145 University Dr., was also temporarily ordered closed on June 29 after inspectors found two violations:
“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Approximately 10 live roaches on the floor at the back door in the kitchen Approximately 5 live roaches under reach in cooler in kitchen.”
“Time/temperature control for safety food, other than whole meat roast, hot held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit. At the front counter, hot holding box, jerk chicken (105F – Hot Holding); fried chicken (115F – Hot Holding). Items in box less than 2 hours. Items reheating to 165°F to hot hold. Repeat Violation.”
Both restaurants passed follow-up inspections and reopened, records show.
