Coral Springs commissioners passed a city budget Wednesday that will raise property taxes and municipal fees for residents.
The tax rate for homeowners will remain unchanged, but due to an 8.4 percent increase in annual assessed property values in Coral Springs, owners of a residential property worth the city’s average home value of $609,432 will pay $2,810 in taxes – a $141 increase over the current fiscal year, according to budget records.
The tax rate for the owner of a condominium worth the city’s average condo value of $210,372 will pay $1,541, a $106 increase, the records show.
Residents will also pay:
– A $287.18 fire assessment fee for their residential properties, an increase of $19.46, records show.
– A $434 residential solid waste special assessment fee for a single-family home, an increase of $64, records show.
– A $144.87 storm-water assessment fee for residential units, up from $133.87, records show.
– Around five percent more for water and sewer services.
The total annual city budget passed by commissioners is $286.4 million.
Coral Springs Commissioner Nancy Metayer Bowen said Wednesday she and her colleagues don’t take spending taxpayer money lightly.
“This is something we talked through, and we worked through with various departments to make sure that we are providing the best quality of life for our residents,” she said.
