School is about to resume, and students are looking forward to meeting their new teachers and friends. For some families, paying for shoes and clothing is a challenge, so the Children’s Services Council of Broward County found a way to help.
On the evening of July 23, the Council arranged to give away 2,000 pairs of new athletic shoes to children in the Bair Middle School community. The children could choose from Vans, Adidas, and Nike shoes. Volunteers assisted them in selecting the correct size.
“We purchased some of the shoes, and we received donations. We want all these children to have new and comfortable shoes for the first day of school,” said Ken King, spokesperson for the Council.
