The Monarch High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams competed in the BCAA Championship on Friday at Dillard High School.
The Monarch boys track and field team was led by Josh Doerfler, who finished third in the discus. Caleb Geddis, Nathan Green, Tristan Philogene, and Patrick Pierre placed 11th, with Mark Harris, Dominic Savio, Anthony Potenzano, and Daniel Robinson finishing 12th in a 4 x 400 relay. Individually, Christoper Belizaire and Joshua Reneau came in 13th in their events. The girls top result came from Courtney Johnson in the shot put. She also came tenth in the discus while competing in the 4 x 100 relay with Katrice Burke, Saniah Whyte, and Kennedy Stephenson. Burke, Whyte, Kennedy Stephenson, and Faith Hannah ran in the 4 x 400 relay, with Burke also competing in the 400 meters individually.
Coconut Creek’s boys’ team, consisting of Jermaine Gordan, Zanii Miller, Godson Sinelien, and Keon Roy, finished sixth in the 4 x 100 relay. Gordon also finished eighth in the 200 meters, Tyler Joseph placed 10th in the 400 meters, and Sinelien came in 12th in the 100 meters.
Next, these teams will continue to prepare for the District Championship in May.
