Salif Yoda {BSO}
A quiet dinner for a Coral Springs family turned into a harrowing ordeal when the homeowner’s quick actions thwarted an attempted burglary.
On March 22, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to an attempted burglary call from a residence near Wiles Road and Tortoise Way.
According to the report, the caller heard a suspicious noise from his home’s balcony. Upon investigation, the homeowner discovered an intruder, later identified as Salif Yoda, 30, of Miami, covered in a white sheet while attempting to gain entry through the sliding glass door.
Records show Yoda attempted to pry open the door with a long black object, possibly a crowbar when the homeowner confronted him and yelled for him to leave.
Upon learning the homeowner was home and awake, Yoda momentarily paused and began pacing back and forth on the balcony before he resumed his break-in attempt, causing the homeowner to call 911.
Upon arrival, the Coral Springs Police Department dispatched a K9 who quickly located and detained Yoda.
The homeowner positively identified Yoda as the individual attempting to force entry into his home and expressed his wish to press charges.
Following the arrest, Yoda was transported to Broward Health for medical clearance before being booked at the Coral Springs Police Department and later transferred to the Broward County Main Jail.
Yoda now faces charges of felony attempted burglary. No bond, he has.

As a home owner pressing charges in Coral Springs you will be served over 30 times to show up in court, and they will cancel 30 times. The defense will try and wear you down or hope you move out of state. Our elected officials put laws on the books that allow this. This needs to change. I had a similar incident in Kensington, not only did they subpoena and cancel 30 times. The defense attorney called me for preliminary finding to Ft Lauderdale, she then made me wait for 60 minutes. All of this to discourage you and cause the case to get dropped. Laws need to be fixed to stop this. We persevered and the 2 boys went to jail.
