A man faces multiple charges of assault with a deadly weapon after assaulting and holding a woman and her children at knifepoint inside a Tamarac home.
On June 6, Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Tamarac residence in response to a reported domestic dispute involving a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, the victim told deputies that a man, later identified as Naaron Robinson, 18, of Tamarac, had allegedly attacked her while she was holding her infant child.
According to witnesses, Robinson allegedly struck the woman multiple times with closed fists in her face, chest, and shoulders before holding her and her children at knifepoint multiple times throughout the home.
According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies that the altercation escalated when she attempted to retreat to her bedroom for safety but that she was unable to avoid Robinson, who confronted her at the bedroom door while holding two knives, one in each hand.
The victim recalled to BSO deputies that the knives were initially held at his side, but moments later, Robinson dropped the knives and resumed punching her while she was clutching her child.
According to witnesses, in a desperate attempt to defend herself, the victim grabbed a nearby lamp and struck Robinson in the head. However, attempted self-defense only escalated the situation as Robinson retrieved one of the knives and pointed it at her, threatening to harm her in front of her children.
The victim told BSO deputies that as Robinson pointed the knives at her and her children, he said, “I’m going to kill you in front of your kids.”
The arrest report indicates the entire ordeal was captured on the victim’s cell phone, which she managed to record amidst the chaos. In the recorded footage, one of the victim’s children can be heard pleading, “Please don’t stab my mom.”
In a last bid to escape, the victim told deputies that she attempted to flee to a bedroom but that Robinson once again intercepted her, pushed her and one of the victim’s children to the ground, and pointed a knife at the victim’s face while she was holding her infant child.
Seizing an opportunity, the victim told deputies she was able to gather her children and flee the home before finding a safe place to call law enforcement.
Robinson was subsequently taken into custody by BSO and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
