Calling all artists! The Broward County Cultural Division is accepting applications for its Innovation Grants and Artist Support Grants. The Innovation Grants provide a platform for established artists to explore new frontiers, while the Artist Support Grants offer crucial assistance for artists seeking to develop their skills and advance their careers. Artists may apply from any discipline, and the program is only available for Broward residents. Deadlines are in August, so visit Broward.org/arts for more information and to apply.
Here in South Florida, we know July brings heavy rain and mosquitoes. Please remember to empty any containers or areas that have standing water. Broward County conducts mosquito services throughout the season by spraying of communities from the air and via truck. These measures reduce the population of mosquitoes and help residents to avoid being bit. For more information on how to request your community be sprayed or to find out when services will be conducted visit Broward.org/mosquito or call our office directly.
On a happier note, sea turtle season is in full swing here in Broward. Starting in July and running through August, the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program will host sea turtle hatchling releases that are open to the public. Each ticket costs $10, and participants must be over the age of three. These great events raise awareness and help conservation efforts of sea turtles that are endangered. For dates, times, and tickets visit their website or Facebook page. Be sure to check out this exciting and educational opportunity as the hatchlings begin their oceanic journey!
