A real-life Hamburglar was arrested and charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct after employees alleged he forced his way into the employee area and stole food.
On May 2, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a disturbance reported at the Mcdonald’s at 7751 West Sample Road.
According to arrest records, employees told officers a man, later identified as Kaleb Stewart, 20, of Pompano Beach, was acting aggressively toward customers, repeatedly trespassing in the employee-only areas behind the cash register and attempting to steal food.
McDonald’s staff told officers Stewart was increasingly irate because he claimed his order was not made correctly and that, despite multiple attempts to calm him down, he began harassing customers and trespassing into the food preparation and cash register area.
Witnesses told police that Stewart became upset with his food and drink orders and, in response, charged into the food preparation areas to grab whatever he wanted.
Unlike the infamous Hamburglar, who infamously made a habit of swiping hamburgers and sandwiches, witnesses told officers Stewart had more of a sweet tooth and was more interested in pocketing pastries.
Records show that when employees confronted the pastry-fisted Stewart, he became aggressive and threatened to hit one of them, but he eventually left the counter area after an employee pretended to have scissors in his pocket that he would defend himself with.
When police arrived on the scene and attempted to identify Stewart, arrest records show he refused to give his full name, became confrontational, and fought every inch of the way as officers handcuffed and placed him in the back of a patrol car while they attempted to figure out who he was and what had transpired.
After interviewing witnesses and determining his identity, officers arrested Stewart and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
