The Piper High School football team recorded a statement win over Blanche Ely High School 15-12 on Saturday.
The Bengals ran 49 offensive plays and had 42 of them come on the ground, led by Jahnard Young. He finished the game with 24 carries and 207 rushing yards, along with two rushing touchdowns. Piper scored in the first quarter and also in the fourth to secure the win.
Jahmani Chin-Suer and Alex Gammage each had interceptions, while Thomas James, Matthew Coleman, and Khalil Jefferson all had sacks. Johan Julien also led the team with six tackles.
Piper is 2-3 this year and is set to play Coral Spring High School in their next game on Friday, September 26, at 7 p.m. The Colts are winless this year and have been outscored 129-42. They also lost 41-0 in their matchup with the Bengals last season.
