
North Broward Prep Girls Volleyball Team. {NBP Athletics}
North Broward Prep had an incredible week with senior nights and its girls’ volleyball team winning a District Championship.
The volleyball team finished as the champion in their division. They entered the District Tournament as the top seed and beat Suncoast High School 25-18, 25-13-28-8 in the semifinals before defeating Dreyfoos School of the Arts in the final 25-23, 25-17, 25-22.
The football team’s third win of the season came in a 48-8 victory over Coral Springs Charter. Hunter Gilman threw for 117 yards and three touchdowns, with Tanner Gilman catching two passes for a score. Anthony Maeste also had 84 receiving yards and a touchdown reception while rushing for three scores and 142 yards.
The Eagles will play their final game of the season on Thursday, October 25, at 6 p.m. against Pine Crest School. Pine Crest won only two games last year, including one against North Broward Prep, 36-21.
They also celebrated Senior Night with Danylo Babinchuk, Adrian Barberana, Jack Bentayou, Luke Bons, Xavier Cooking, Jonah Cohen, Hunter Gillman, Javier Lopez Alfonzo, Antony Maestre, Christopher Mugavero, Alexander Pavon, Nicholas Quinter, Jake Smiler, Carmine Tuosto.
The Eagles also honored their seniors from their cheerleaders with Guilia Carvalho, Isabella Cielo, Alyssa DeCross, Marissa Brett, Hailey Hull, Lola Kalalanjian, Israela Kriebel, Marianna Lander, Rebecca Machlovitz, Thuan Nguyen and Jayln Rozier. Their athletic training seniors are Samantha Edelson, Evan Piskun, and Gemma Clouse.
NBP recognized Luke Diamond, Bryce Meacham, and Joseph Rondon from cross country. They recently competed in the Palm League Conference Championships in Sunrise, led by Willis Gillis, who placed fourth. Eric Levy came in 13th, followed by Daniel Robles and Darren Feldman. Avery Lopez and Elisa Pluta ran for the girls.
Mac Lobdell was the lone senior from the golf team recognized as they recently dropped a match against Archbishop McCarthy High School on Monday at Boca Lago Country Club. Cooper Roth shot a 39 for the Eagles and was followed by Elliot Fishman, Jiayi Wang, Anthony Suppelsa and Julian Reck. The girls also played and were led by Tingting Zhuang. Jesera Mendez, Ava Koury, Jordan Ellis, Cooper Aucoin, and Sarina Dobrin competed.
Swimmers Isabella Garfias Toledo, Kayra Kanver, and Rocco Lembit were all recognized during the team meeting on Wednesday. They will now get set for the postseason.
