The MainStreet at Coconut Creek project is moving along.
During the June 13 meeting, the commission passed a resolution approving the site plan request of David Auld of Johns Family Partners. This approval permits a maximum of 124 condominium units for the property known as block 11, spanning 4.8 acres. The site will be situated on the southeast corner of Banks Road and Cullum Road, a prime location for the MainStreet at Coconut Creek project.
According to a presentation made by Dwayne Dickerson, a developer representative, block 11 will have six buildings with four stories. There will be 218 parking spaces and eight electric vehicle charging stations. There will be two access points to the block from Banks Road. The presentation included slides showing the buildings’ exteriors and the housing units’ interiors. There will be a lakefront park and green space.
Mayor Sandra Welch loves the project and believes it will be well received. She asked if there would be rentals. Dickerson said a condominium association would form and set the rental requirements. He said those who will buy a condominium will be expected to live there for one year before renting their unit, and there will be restrictions on short-term rentals.
According to Dickerson, the condos would probably be priced in the middle to high $400,000 range.
Commissioner Joshua Rydell liked that the project encouraged walkability. He said he would like Coconut Creek residents to buy the condominiums.
Commissioner John Brodie said he liked the project’s walkability and the large amount of green space and trees.
According to the MainStreet website, the 200-acre mixed-use development will include housing units, various stores, including a grocery store and restaurants, a greenway system, parks, and a large community gathering place.
