Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) prepares to welcome two new airlines this year, expanding its options for travelers.
El Al Airlines and Norse Atlantic Airways are set to operate from the airport, connecting the Florida city to major global destinations, according to Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine, who calls it “exciting news.”
El Al Israel Airlines has announced its plans to expand its operations in South Florida by offering new non-stop seasonal service between FLL and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, starting from September 13.
The airline will fly on selected days of the week to cater to passenger demand until October during the Jewish High Holidays season. This new service marks the first time the airline is flying to FLL, and it is hoped that it will become year-round from the Spring of 2024.
Norse Atlantic Airways will operate three weekly flights between FLL and London Gatwick Airport starting from May 26, 2023.
In December 2022, Norse Atlantic Airways introduced non-stop service between FLL and Berlin, Germany, just a few months after launching its inaugural route to Oslo, Norway. However, options for Berlin past late March have not opened up as of press time.
El Al has relocated its regional North American headquarters to Margate from the New York area. This new move is expected to bring more traffic to the airport as the airline strengthens its presence in the region.
With these new additions, FLL is poised to become an even more attractive travel hub, making it easier for travelers from South Florida to reach major destinations in Europe and the Middle East.
