The Coral Springs community will once again gather at Sportsplex Drive to participate in Lisa’s Run for Hope, a 5K/12K run/walk event formerly known as the Race for Women’s Wellness.
The event held on Saturday, March 25, in honor of breast cancer awareness advocate Lisa Boccard, had been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic but is now making a triumphant return.
Boccard, who died from breast cancer in 2019, was an inspirational figure in the community. Her brother, Vince Boccard, former Coral Springs Mayor, expressed his gratitude for the city’s continued support of the event, which aims to raise money and awareness for breast cancer screenings.
The City of Coral Springs has contributed $10,000 to the event, with proceeds benefiting the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, established in 2003. The fund provides financial assistance for breast cancer care and treatment, focusing on preventative screenings.
The 12K run will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 7:30 a.m. Both races will start near Sportsplex Park and follow a scenic course along Sportsplex Drive.
A virtual race option is also available, and participants are encouraged to form groups or teams for fundraising efforts.
