The City of Coral Springs is gearing up to host its annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17.
The Juneteenth Celebration promises to be an unforgettable evening, filled with messages of hope, captivating dance performances by local groups, exciting giveaways from esteemed local vendors, and a feast for the ears with live music by FM Band and DJ Lockedown of Epik Entertainment.
Designed to bring joy and unity to the community, the event with a range of engaging activities for children, including lawn games, arts and crafts, a balloon twister, and a photo booth, and food enthusiasts can specialty food and drinks served by an array of food trucks stationed at the venue.
The establishment of Juneteenth as a city holiday and the creation of this annual event was spearheaded by Joshua Simmons, the city’s first Black commissioner.
“I am proud that this event has become a permanent fixture on our city’s event schedule; it always brings me joy to see the community come together to honor an important piece of our country’s history with dancing, music, great food, and togetherness,” said Simmons.
This year’s Juneteenth Celebration has received generous support from esteemed sponsors who recognize the importance of this event. Broward Health, Al Hendrickson Toyota, Blue Stream Fiber, Baptist Health, Predesco Property Investments, ADU Salon, and Floor & Décor have all stepped forward as event sponsors.
Additionally, Amazon, a leading global company, will sponsor a VIP Lounge where guests can enjoy an exclusive space for mixing and mingling. Tickets for the Amazon VIP Lounge are priced at $50 per ticket and offer two drinks, access to a covered seating area adorned with bistro lighting and mounted fans, and various perks, including discounts at the on-site food trucks, complimentary bottled water, access to a phone charging station, and even soothing back massages provided by Coral Springs Chiropractic.

Juneteenth holds profound historical significance as it marks the liberation of thousands of enslaved men, women, and children in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, two and a half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
The event will occur from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the City Hall Lawn at 9500 W Sample Rd.
