Coral Springs Improvement District invites the community to go behind the scenes of its operations and have some fun at its upcoming Spring Open House.
The open house begins on Saturday, April 29, at the CSID facility at 10300 NW 11th Manor from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m.
According to Michael Cobelo, CSID spokesperson, eventgoers can meet with staff, who will host facility tours. At past events, residents could get an in-depth look at the processes and equipment behind their water supply. There will be tours again this year.
There will also be complimentary food, a bounce house, and a water slide for kids. The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department and the Fort Lauderdale Mounted Patrol Unit will also appear at the event.
All three members of the board of supervisors will be in attendance, and guests will have the chance to speak with them. Residents will have the opportunity to discuss the upcoming flood mitigation project, which residents and local leaders widely panned and led to the creation of the “Save Our Trees” movement.
Still, Cobelo said, CSID hopes to inform and entertain residents simultaneously.
“Overall, CSID is looking forward to a great time alongside their customers,” he said.
CSID operates, maintains, and monitors all water system components. The district oversees 122 miles of potable waterlines throughout its district in southern Coral Springs. In 2022, CSID processed more than 1.4 billion gallons of potable water, according to a press release.
In 2022, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection honored CSID with the 2022 Plant Operations Excellence Award, which recognizes facilities devoted to excellence in water quality and exceeding expectations in operation, maintenance, innovation, waste reduction, recycling, etc., and compliance.
