The city of Coral Springs shined in track and field, producing over a dozen District Champions.
J.P. Taravella
J.P. Taravella had both the boys and girls teams win the District Championship, with Scary Fils winning the 1600 meters and also coming in first place in the 4 x 800 relay with Elijah Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Ali Mustafa. Fils also came in second in the 800 meters, along with Vessells, Maleek Lubin, and T’Yquez Jenkins. Ray Graham, Miles Green, Ja’Michael Barnes, and Quentin Toussaint finished in third in the 4 x 100 relay, while Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Wadleigh Valmyr all came in third in their events.
Ajah Arscott had a historic performance for J.P. Taravella, winning the 100, 200, 400 meters, and 4 x 100 relay along with Damari Sibbles, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Kiana Taylor. Spann-Pierre won the 400 hurdles, and U’Myri Bain took first in the long jump. Sibbles also finished in second place in the 200 and 400 meters, while Katelyn Tenn finished in second in the long jump, and Caileen Canales, Cara Dennis, Marriott, and Raquel Arne impressed as well.
Coral Springs High School
Sebastian Marrero took first for the boys in the 110 and 400 meters, while Jeffrey Belizaire and Matthew Wykpisz also won the 800 and 3200 meters, respectively. Cashmere Samuels won the pole vault, followed by Ravi Persaud. Samuels also finished as the runner-up in the discus, with Haozhen Yuan coming in third in the javelin. Zanu Fullerton and Antrell Wright are in the same spot in their event. Matthew Wykpisz and Sebastian Marrero came in fourth, while Zanu Fullerton and Daryl Myers came in fifth.
The girls had Za’coria Anestal, Shaquille Alvaranga, Michelle Poitier, and Jaylyn Samuels win a District Championship in the 4 x 100 meters, and Lydia Gentilhomme, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Olivia Higgins and Bergyne Darang took first in the 4 x 800. They also had championships from Olivia Higgins in the pole vault, Higgins in the 800 meters, and Alvaranga in the 100 hurdles. Bergyne Darang and Trinity Dajuste came in second, along with the 4 x 200 relay of Lydia Gentilhomme, Olivia Higgins, Amelia Christopher, and Bergyne Darang. Other top performances came from Amelia Christopher, Alvaranga, and Angelica Macarulay, who came in the top four.
Coral Glades
Devin Roman won a District Championship in the high jump for the boys, with Jordan Blaise, Ezekiel Burrell, and Montreal Thomas placing second in their events. Burrell also came in third in the 400 hurdles, followed by the 4 x 800 relay, placing third with Preston Dennis, Devin Roman, Jordan Blaise, and Ali Abdallah. Burrell, Blaise, Dennis, Madox Becks, and Anderson Jean-Baptiste are all in the top five.
Nekalia Watt won the discus for the girls, while Saniya Swain came in second in the 10 and 400 hurdles. Camille Camper also came in second in the high jump with Keelee Okoro and Zion Tomlin, finishing Zion third along with the 4 x 400 relay of Keelee Okoro, Saniya Swain, Chloe Martinez, and Olivia Chester, as well as the x 4 800 relay with Gina Bido, Lily Bido, Daylean Lainez, and. Chloe Martinez. Grace-Ann Hermitt, Tamara Hall, Saniya Swain. and Chloe Martinez placed fourth in the 4 x 100 relay.
Coral Springs Charter
Adrianna Harris had the only District Championship for the Coral Springs Charter but won both the shot put and discus. Eli Groothius led the boys to a second-place finish in the pole vault, while Gerald Tibbetts, Justin Laroche, William Urena, and Elijah Mcdonald came in fourth in the 4 x 400 relay. Shaun Blum, Brandon Valdez, Shivam Rangoo, and Jordan Head also paled fourth in the 4 x 800 relay, with Gerald Tibbetts, Justin Laroche, Beylian Dejesus, and Elijah Mcdonald finishing sixth in their relay. Dejesus, Head, and Jayden Byrd all picked up points to help the Panthers finish sixth.
The girls came in second, with Kendall Parrott, Sarah Manigat, and Hannah Manger all coming in second place in their events. Ava Dorvil, Reagan Pinkston, Jordin Sawyer, and Sydney Leath finished third in the 4 x 100 relay, while Lily Richardson, Parrott, Mackenzie Maniscalco, and Anabella Thornberry also did in the 4 x 800. Richardson, Marissa Micioni, Reagan Pinkston, and Samantha McMillan came in fifth in their relay race, with Parrot also securing a third-place performance individually in the 1600 meters. Kiersten Etienne and Kaitlyn Stewart also contributed with top-eight performances.
