According to a report by CNBC, Buy Buy Baby, a retail chain that specializes in baby products, is facing the dreaded fate of being the latest box store to close doors nationwide after the Bed Bath & Beyond chain failed to reach a valuation deal, opting rather to liquidate its assets and file bankruptcy.
The news of Buy Buy Baby nationwide closures means the Coral Springs location at 2035 North University Drive will soon wave goodbye.
The closure of the Coral Springs Buy Buy Baby location will undoubtedly impact those who relied on the chain for a wide range of baby products, particularly following the 2018 closure of all Toys ‘R’ Us and Baby ‘R’ Us South Florida locations.
As the closure process unfolds, customers will have to explore alternative options to fulfill their baby product needs, with Carter’s and The Children’s Place located inside the Coral Square Mall, representing some of the final physical store options specializing in baby clothing.
CNBC reports the company behind the children’s apparel company Janie and Jack expressed interest in acquiring Buy Buy Baby and continuing its operations. Still, a disagreement over valuation prevented them from reaching an agreement with the lead creditor of Bed Bath & Beyond, Sixth Street Partners.
Rather than look for another suitor, investors behind Buy Buy Baby have opted to sell the store’s intellectual property, auction off its leases, and proceed with liquidation sales.
