A Tamarac man who alleges he was the victim of antisemitism was arrested and charged with battery and child abuse after assaulting a four-year-old girl at a bus stop.
On February 22, Barry Nockowitz, 65, of Tamarac, was arrested and charged with battery and child abuse after allegedly throwing a four-year-old girl against a concrete column at a Plantation bus terminal.
According to reports, Nockowitz approached the girl and her mother at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday while they were sitting on a bench at the Broward County West Regional Bus Terminal on Pine Island Road.
Plantation Police Department officers reported that Nockowitz proceeded to grab the girl by the head and throw her against a concrete column before walking away. Reports say the girl did not sustain any serious injuries.
Witnesses told police Nockowitz walked away following the assault and was apprehended soon after the girl’s mother called the police.
During questioning by officers, Nockowitz claimed he “would not stand for antisemitism in this country” and that he was “going to find another kid” following the attack.
Nockowitz did not indicate what events specifically transpired before the alleged attack.
Nockowitz was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was eventually released after posting an $11,000 bond.
