Carter Brooks of Coral Glades High School, a star golfer, was officially named PGA South Florida Player of the Year.
Brooks only started playing golf in 2020 and went on the course for the first time in 2021. On the SFPGA Junior Tour 13-18 division, he won three tournaments and also finished in the top ten in 13 of 18 games. Brooks led the division with three eagles and 44 birdies while helping his varsity team win their first District Championship in school history.
“I am super proud of being named Player of the Year,” he said. “I hope it’s the first of many accolades for my golf career. I am going to take this momentum into next year. My main goal is to bring a State championship to Coral Glades next season.
Still, with one year left before college, Brooks plans to play at the next level and will continue working in the offseason.
