Crime Update

This is a summary of Tamarac crime events through August 19, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents.

Theft

Walgreens was a victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting at 8790 W McNab Road, which was reported on 08/16/2024. The total estimated loss was $709. Two unknown female subjects entered the business and stole various merchandise.

Winn-Dixie was a victim of Theft—retail / Shoplifting at 3116 W Commercial Blvd, which was reported on 08/16/2024. The total estimated loss was $600. An unknown subject entered the business, loaded up a shopping cart with merchandise, and left through the rear receiving door.

A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 08/16/2024.

A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 08/14/2024.

A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 08/13/2024. The victim advised his vehicle was stolen.

A victim of Theft—All Other was reported on 08/15/2024. The total estimated loss was $300. The resident reported an unknown subject stole his wallet.

Battery

A victim of Battery was reported on 08/13/2024. The suspect engaged in an argument and then punched and choked the victim and left before law enforcement’s arrival.

A victim of Battery was reported on 08/14/2024. The victim stated that the suspect pushed her face into the floor, causing her to get a large bruise over her right eye.

Burglary

A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 08/13/2024. An adult female reported she heard a noise that sounded like gunfire. On another date, she observed three males pulling on door handles.

Lost Property

A victim of Lost Property was reported on 08/14/2024. The reporting person advised he believes he lost his unloaded firearm.

Counterfeit

Wingstop was a victim of Information at 5720 N University Drive, reported on 08/14/2024. BSO responded by picking up counterfeit US currency and documenting the incident.

Death

A victim of Death Investigation was reported on 08/15/2024. A mother advised that her son had a history of drug use, and she believed he was under the influence before she went to sleep. She woke up to find him deceased on the back patio.

A victim of Death Investigation was reported on 08/15/2024. A welfare check was conducted through forced entry with fire rescue, and a dead female was found on the floor in the bedroom.

Information

Information was reported on 08/15/2024. The victim reported that two dogs ran toward him, causing him to drop his cell phone, which in turn damaged it.

Robbery

A victim of Robbery was reported on 08/16/2024. The total estimated loss was $22.

Fire

A victim of Fire on NW 54 Lane was reported on 08/18/2024. The homeowner’s dryer began smoldering, which caused the townhome to become filled with smoke.

Arrests

Akins, Michael Cornelius, 18, was arrested on a Larceny – Other Theft charge on 08/14/2024.

Thomas, Stacey Ann, 45, was arrested on a charge of Battery-Touch Or Strike on 08/15/2024.
