Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through July 17.
Theft – Retail / Shoplifting
A victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting on W Commercial Blvd was reported on: 07/11/2023. The total estimated loss was: $256.
Weapons Violations – All Others
A victim of Weapons Violations – All Others on N State Road 7 was reported on: 07/11/2023. The officer a BMW recklessly driving. A traffic stop was conducted when the defendant exited the car with a gun in front of his waistband. Upon shouting commands to put his hands in the air, the defendant discarded the firearm and complied.
The firearm was altered and did not have an attached serial number. The defendant was arrested for reckless driving, open carry of a firearm, and possession of an altered firearm.
Theft – All Other
A victim of Theft – All Other on NW 55 Court was reported on: 07/11/2023. The total estimated loss was: $1,700. The victim purchased an iPhone and Apple Watch, which FedEx delivered. After opening the package, the victim realized the products were missing from the box.
Information
A victim of Information on Isles Circle was reported on: 07/12/2023. The victim reported she received a text message from an unknown person who sent her a fraudulent check for $1600.00, which she deposited into her bank account.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud / Identity Theft on W Commercial Blvd was reported on: 07/12/2023. The total estimated loss was: $2,200.
A victim of Fraud – All Other W Commercial Blvd, was reported on: 07/13/2023. The total estimated loss was: $5,919. The reporting person stated an older female, who has Alzheimer’s, had her bank account closed, and $5,919.89 was withdrawn from her account before the account was closed.
A victim of Fraud – All Other on W Commercial Blvd was reported on: 07/14/2023. The total estimated loss was: $763. The complainant advised that the unknown suspect(s) made two unauthorized transactions from his bank account at Walgreens.
A victim of Fraud – Credit Card / Atm on W Commercial Blvd was reported on: 07/13/2023. The total estimated loss was: $703. The victim reported that an unknown person used her Debit/ATM Card to withdraw funds at Bank of America.
A victim of Fraud – All Other on N Pine Island Road was reported on: 07/13/2023. The total estimated loss was: $550. The victim mailed a money order, which was stolen and then cashed at Publix.
Burglary Conveyance
A victim of Burglary Conveyance on W McNab Road was reported on: 07/13/2023. The total estimated loss was: $1,250.
Auto Theft
A victim of Auto Theft on Lagos De Campo Blvd was reported on: 07/14/2023. A grey 2022 Kia Sportage was stolen.
Theft From Building
A victim of Theft From Building on W Commercial Blvd was reported on: 07/16/2023. The total estimated loss was: $2,002. The theft was from a motel room. The complainant reported that a friend of his and her friend entered his motel room to get their belongings while he was at work. The complainant had given the motel staff permission to open the door for them to get their items, but he is now reporting they stole several of his items as well. Both offenders are from New York and are expected to return to New York.
Arrests
Orelus, Joshua, Schneider, 20, was arrested on a charge of Carrying Prohibited Weapon Carrying Weapon Openly on N State Road 7 on 7/11/2023.
Bonhomme, Ronald, Edson, 29, was arrested on a Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence charge on W Commercial Blvd on 07/12/2023.
James, Tamara, Deonana, 27, was arrested on a charge of Warrant/Count 1 Aggravated Grand Retail Theft at W Commercial Blvd on 07/13/2023.
Jacobs, Willie, Issac, 44, was arrested on a charge of Simple Assault on Officer Firefighter Emt Etc on N University Drive on 07/14/2023.
Shirey, Shaun, Hunter, 35, was arrested on a Damage Prop-Criminal Mischief-200 Dollars And Under charge at NW 72nd Avenue on 07/15/2023.
Shirey, Shaun, Hunter, 35, was arrested on a charge of Burglary Dwelling Occupied/Unarmed/No Assault Battery on NW 72nd Avenue on 7/16/2023.
