Superhero Swim Academy, a groundbreaking swim school, is making waves with its innovative approach to life-saving lessons in the pool.
Focused on creating the most engaging learning environment, the academy offers two months of complimentary parent and toddler swim classes for infants and toddlers aged two months to one-year-old, requiring only a one-time registration fee of $25. For older children three and up, they offer a one-time free trial lesson to experience the program.
Founded in 2018 by Jacob Siegel, who has a coaching background and a passion for superhero lore, the academy aims to be the market’s most creative swim school.
Co-owner Reed Heller brings his experience empowering youth through aquatic education and shares Siegel’s vision of offering smaller, safer, and more productive swim classes.
Together, they’ve crafted a unique learning experience that combines essential swim skills with the excitement of superhero adventures with their own copy-written Swimming Superhero Characters to represent each skill in swimming.
According to Siegel, learning these skills has saved lives. One parent shared a video of their child on camera falling into their home pool. The child was able to get back to the wall and crawl out of the pool to safety.
The second incident involved a four-year-old male student saving his 1-year-old female sibling. The child was able to bring her over to the stairs and drag her out of the pool.
The academy’s curriculum is designed for different age groups, from infants to children up to 12 years old.
Infants
Infants are introduced to the water with a parent, and songs and toys familiarize them with it to eliminate future fear. Toddlers work on safety techniques, including entering and exiting the pool independently, diving for toys, and practicing floating and rolling to their backs.
Toddlers
Parents with infants and toddlers should expect crying from their kids during class, which is a normal reaction. It is a new sensation being in the water and not being able to touch the floor. Swim lessons are an activity where infants and toddlers are not in control due to the safety aspect of swimming, and crying could result in the first 4-8 classes.
Older Kids
With older kids ages 4-12, the goal is to teach swimming, which means teaching their cadets to get from the shallow end to the deep end of the pool on their own and take breaths. To do this, cadets must first show they are comfortable and safe in the water.
Superhero Swim Academy stands out by incorporating superhero themes into its lessons. Children earn superhero achievement cards as they master new skills, turning each accomplishment into an exciting milestone.
