DEERFIELD BEACH, FL — A private school teacher has been arrested on multiple charges of engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with a minor, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Candace Brown, 35, of Weston, was taken into custody on Friday, Nov. 22, following an investigation by BSO’s Special Victims Unit.
Brown, a teacher at Sawgrass Adventist School in Plantation, faces two counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a victim under 16, one count of lewd and lascivious conduct, and one count of transmitting material harmful to a minor via an electronic device.
Detectives say the victim, a 14-year-old male student, disclosed that the incidents occurred in Deerfield Beach over the summer.
Brown voluntarily turned herself in at the Broward County Main Jail, where she remains in custody.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information or who may have been victimized to come forward.
