A popular Coral Springs restaurant was ordered closed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation last week after inspectors discovered an assortment of serious food and safety violations.
Ocean One Grille, located at 2444 North University Drive, has been ordered to shut down by health inspectors following a complaint inspection on March 8 that discovered 14 violations, many repeated, including the presence of live flying insects in various areas of the kitchen, food storage areas, and bar area.
The report shows inspectors observed two live flying insects landing on clean pots in the dishwashing area and approximately 30 live flying insects in dry storage areas adjacent to the kitchen.
Inspectors noted the areas were not separated by a door or any other barriers, and five live flying insects were observed landing on the wall in the kitchen, this was a repeat violation.
Noted in the inspection was an accumulation of black/green mold-like substances that were observed in the interior of the ice machine/bin, which was also a repeat violation.
Various food items were stored on the walk-in freezer floor and several food items were stored on the dry storage floor, which was another repeat violation. Cooked chicken wings were observed by inspectors being held cold at 46 degrees Fahrenheit on a makeshift table, and were only placed in the unit 45 minutes prior to inspection.
The report also noted no soap was provided at the hand wash sink in the bar, which was a repeat violation. Proof of required state-approved employee training was also not available for some employees.
Finally, ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared onsite and held for more than 24 hours was not properly date marked, and no date was marked on the cooked chicken wings and rice stored in the walk-in cooler.
After observing the noted serious violations, a stop sale was issued by the inspector.
The restaurant has been ordered to remain closed until all violations are corrected and it is deemed safe to reopen.

The management should have been fired that day!
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… Well fool me… Ah you can’t get fooled again. Good riddance to this place.
