A man faces serious DUI and reckless driving charges after driving intoxicated on the wrong side of the road.
On January 14, the Coral Springs Police Department arrested Aaron David Reconco, 40, of Margate, on charges of DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road after officers found him driving dangerously and under the influence on State Road 7.
According to the CSPD report, the incident, which officers note could have led to a severe accident, was thwarted thanks to quick responding officers from the Coconut Creek Police Department.
Records show that at approximately 6:12 a.m., police were dispatched to Wiles Road and State Road 7 following reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. Officers who arrived in the vicinity found a white Ford Fusion parked on the sidewalk facing northbound, with Reconco later identified as the driver.
Officers from the Coconut Creek Police Department, who first responded to the scene, observed signs of impairment in Reconco, including loss of balance and an odor of alcoholic beverages. The report indicates Reconco refused to provide a breath sample for alcohol content determination.
