Senior Night Highlights Another Busy Day of Athletics at Coral Spring Charter

Coral Springs Charter had a busy beginning to the week, highlighted by a pair of teams holding Senior Nights on Tuesday.

Boys soccer had their final regular season game against Don Soffer Aventura High School and lost 2-0. They honored James Camacho, Jaden Showing, Alex Rosano, and Elijah McDonald and are now 1-10-3 heading into the District Championship.

Girls soccer beat Don Soffer Aventura High School 1-0 to improve to 9-5 this year. The Panthers honored Isabella Ruiz, Camila Ruiz, Sophie Ribeiro and Kayla Kreisler. The Panthers will play their final game of the regular season on Thursday, January 18, against Key West High School. The Conchs are 5-5-1 this year but lost 5-0 in their last matchup in 2020.

Boys basketball will honor their seniors later this month and are still winless on the year in 12 games. They lost 58-47 against David Posnack Jewish Day School in their last match on January 11 despite 27 points from Justin Laroche. They will play Fort Lauderdale, Don Soffer Aventura, and Monarch High School later this week.

Girls basketball has had a strong season and is 7-4 despite falling in their last game on January 12 against Cypress Bay High School 63-44. They have wins against Northeast, Piper, West Broward, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, South Plantation High School, Calvary Christian Academy, and North Broward Prep. CSC will play Fort Lauderdale and Monarch High School later this week.

Eric Perez’s wrestling team continues its terrific season and does not have bay seniors on the team. The Panthers fell in their Regional Dual against Jensen Beach High School but performed well in the Coral Springs Duals.

Despite having several players out with injuries, CSC beat Pine Crest, Dillard, and Monarch at the Coral Springs Duals. Preston Lindsay went undefeated at 9-0 and won the Iron Colt Award. Perez says all of their wrestlers are starting to embrace and enjoy the hard work and discipline needed to be successful in this sport.

“Our newer wrestlers are progressing rapidly and showing a lot of improvements,” he said. “We are starting to peak at the right time and should be more than ready for the BCAA Championship and the postseason.”
